ABOUT

Climafide works to connect and strengthen communities, inspiring collective action. We do this through...

1) Climafide cards: a tool for engagement

2) Climafide circles: contextual workshops and activities

This endeavour wouldn’t be possible without OceanWise’s support through the early iterations as well as Laurence Letarte-Préfontaine and Elena Frie as collaborators.

resources

Climafide began as a project to address climate literacy and emotions with the goal to nurture hopeful and just action in “Canada”. There are many amazing organizations and resources out there but here are a few to get started ....

Climate Atlas: Stories and Resources from Indigenous Knowledge Keepers and scientists

Shake Up the Establishment: Resources to get involved politically in your region and tools for organizers

Climate Justice Hub UBC: Great handbooks for different facets of wellbeing including managing eco-emotions

Critically Engaged Climate Education: Perspectives, principles and resources to guide interventions in the climate crises.

... too many to count! In the meantime you can share your favourite organizations here.

Always support your local groups by following and even attending any events. You can use the CAN-RAC membership repository as a good first place to find an aligned non-profit.

Climate justice and action are interconnected with and produced by colonialism, extractivism, and enabled by structural racism. Systems change requires complex solutions and understandings, patience, kindness, accountability and willingness to go outside the norm.

about the cards

Climafide cards are designed to make conversations about sustainability, climate change, and justice, approachable and meaningful. They can be used as a tool for activists, academics, and teachers, or with friends and family. Questions ask you to draw from personal experiences and emotions and collaboratively dream up actions.

A deck will come with 52 questions with three different 'levels', as well as opening and closing questions. Climafide Cards are locally made in Montreal, QC and they are estimated to cost $25-30 CAD + shipping. One package will include 52 question cards and a digital facilitation guide (EN/FR).
